Hand made in England is something our teddy bear producer, Merrythought, is particularly proud of. They are one of the last two companies still making teddy bears in the UK today! Production from other companies has rushed to the far east, but we are delighted (and relieved!!) to be able to offer these British goods to you. The company guarantees that every Merrythought Teddy Bear or Soft Toy is unique and individually made from the finest materials.
Since its foundation in 1930, Merrythought have earned an unequalled reputation for design and quality--their reputation is synonymous with traditional craftsmanship and originality. Nearly seventy years of innovation has produced an extensive range of teddy bears and soft toys. Mr Oliver Holmes, grandson of the founder Mr W. Gordon Homes, heads a company internationally recognised as one of the leading producers of 'bespoke' Soft Toys. Perhaps one day we will commission our very own "Sunday Best" Bear, but in the meantime we hope you will enjoy the special selection we have made for you.
Merrythought is a member of the British Safety Council and all their products are manufactured to BSD5665/EN71. With the years of manufacturing experience and a commitment to toy safety they guarantee that:
- - All the fabrics used are tested for flame resistance and any paints needed are tested for toxicity.
- - Eyes and other non-pliable components are safety locked into place
- - Only brand new, top quality materials are used for stuffing.
- - Every Merrythought soft toy carries a permanent cleaning instruction label and both packaging and labelling conform to the very latest regulations.
- - All metal parts are carefully checked to ensure there are no sharp edges.
